Challenges
Here we will discuss all the challenges that Japanese console game publishers are faced with.
Japan used to be the main exporter of videogames in the world, so why is this no longer the case? People seem to be aware of this issue, but they cannot pinpoint its source. The few who can, do not provide any type of solution either. With identifiably Japanese-made games becoming a rarity in most living rooms, the industry has seen a surge in Western-made games that lag behind in all aspects, but their sheer number of releases allows them to make up for this. Unless some changes are made that allow for a switch in how Japanese games are perceived by Western audiences, there is little chance of this trend ever changing.
